A Star is Born

AK had a speaking role in the Church play. The play was the same day we got back from our family vacation. AK was up there looking really cute even though she still had sand and sun block all over her.

Last Batch (tears included)

The day we left IM decided to learn to swim, and there was much rejoicing in the streets....until...

I told everyone it was time to pack it up and go home.
The EI scowl is harsh......

IM trying to intimidate almost had me re-booking the flight home....

AK was just not taking me seriously at all...

Even I had a last long long mournful look out to sea....

After we returned our rental car the lady at the check in told us our flight would be 3 hours late...the moral of the story kids, always always check flight status before you leave yourself stranded at an airport on a tropical island.

Maui no ka oi

Maui no ka oi - Maui is the best
Our time here is almost over and some of us are really looking forward to getting back to our stuffed animals waiting at home....some of us. AK in HI looking great. Gotta get a picture of the boards cause they aint'a commin'a home.

We went to tourist central and walked up and down Front st. Here we are sunburned and all that

Chillin' at the banyan...

And here was me trying not to get hurt in front of the family, some big ones rolled in and I kinda dove under those.

I had a lot of fun watching the tourists getting wiped clean when the sets rolled in. Too much fun.

Here is something we did not get to witness while here and I somehow feel just a wee bit let down.

Oh well maybe on the next trip.

A hui hou

The kids and C went shopping and to the park the other day as I went on run. AK and EI are quite the duo.

Poolside with EI is always a boost to my image as just hanging out with a cool kid like her makes me look good.

Near our Koi pond. AK stood here the other day with her sketch pad and drew the rocks, waterfall and pond. My little artist.

IM running to the beach, this is looking out the back, off the lanai.

Me and the girls taking some waves, EI was laughing great big belly laughs the whole time.

Time is definitely going wayway too fast here....and yet it is pretty laid back.

From near to far from here to there funny things are everywhere

This was what was going on on (not often do I get to use that grammar) the night before we left. I was heading out for a run and it was dumping snow. I guess we missed a bit more of it as we got to our final destination.

AK working on the tan, check out the shadow, I love the little thing.

Here IM is loving his new mask. He actually was body boarding and had the mask on and he wiped out and that was enough for him. He came up out of the water and shouted "THATWASAWESOME!!" he claimed he saw fish in 3" of sandy water. When he settled down it was back to the buckets and sand with the mask of course.

AK showing us how it is done.

Pop's idea of keeping an eye on the kids.

5pm and Oh what fun it is...

I was sitting here enjoying the beginning of the weekend and I looked outside and noticed the sunset. Of course in photography one cannot trust the camera to relay the moment correctly but I decided to put this picture up anyway. Cold weather the tail end of a storm and an amazingly peaceful moment at 5pm, almost 30 more days of the days getting shorter and then the big count up. Hope you enjoy the picture a little, the real thing was pretty neat.

Here is our little AK getting ready for the season. She came home from lessons today and told us she surprised her teacher by playing a bunch of songs she wasn't assigned. The teacher was pleased and next lessons we get to buy a new book. Listen carefully and you will get the idea of what it is like living with the little boy who listens to all things even when not in the same room, C and I are always having to be careful of what we say. Example, "dang it!" is now part of the boys vocabulary.

winter days

I discovered IM on top of the woodpile when he was playing outside the other day.

Then I had to go rescue him because he couldn't get down by himself.

EI playing with the big girl toys (in attempt to get her to leave her brother's pirate playmobil alone).

IM and his pirates, along with about a zillion pieces small enough to disappear inside a mouth or a fist. Whenever he plays with this I have to diligently entertain the baby sister to keep her distracted. Unfortunately, she is not so much of a baby anymore, and she can easily climb onto the chairs and access the table which used to be his sacrosanct domain.

On the good side, IM is great at keeping track of all the pieces and putting them all away when he is done.

See you in the spring

This is what we are having to say to any toys left out last night as the snow came in at about 3" and buried it all. It is fun to see EI experience the snow for the "first" time.
IM is pumped as you can tell.

First tracks....

EI trying to stay upright in the new terrain.

The stumble she couldn't recover from. Mom had to come to the rescue, after she got the shot though.

Snow removal the easy way, use a dump truck.

Too many layers for anything much more than standing around.

The snow is here and AK's saying is, "Let it snow"
