RETROWIND....

On a warm summers evening, or so the song goes, we went on down to our secret spot to see what we could see. On the way down to the beach site it was looking really pretty out.

These two ladies were pretty captivating.

These two munchkins were trying to be patient with the rest of us slow walkers.

One more pause for the beauty queen in the tree, EI you are so amazing.

Finally at the beach and it was low tide, which of course didn't stop any of the mayhem that was about to begin.

We ran into our friends down at the beach without any planning which was nice because they already had a fire going, so it was just go time the instant we got there.

Lots of clouds but we were in a sweet spot with lots of sun.

I am pretty sure people pay lots of money for a mud treatment like this, AK gets 'er done fer free.

and then for the rinse..

IM on the other hand got in the water which kind of super charged him and he climbed a mountain ....

and fought some bad guys, with a feather. Feather fighting, its the latest rage.
Anyway it was a great day out at the Cook Inlet.
Here youtube randomness go.

More Domo Kun You Tube madness for those who dare (don't read the lame comments, it is never a good idea anyway)

They fall for it every time.

We hiked and we paddled and we hiked and we paddled, and on the way in on our first day of hunting something really odd happened. Bullwinkle here watched us cruise in to within 50 yds and then decided we were up to no good, which is all a matter of perspective, and my buddy in the stern of the boat gave a little bull grunt, ungh ungh. Side note, grunting like this during the fall rut is like saying to a big bull like this "hey buster get outta here all the cows in this area are MINE for the taking." Of course our Bullwinkle fell for it and he was like "are you talking to me?!" Which is why we have moose in the freezer and I am heralded around here as The Great Provider, not to be mistaken for THE GREAT PROVIDER who actually made these tasty creatures. All I remember is one shot, ears ringing, and said moose taking a couple of steps and lying down 30 feet from the shore of the lake and 500 feet from our camp site we hadn't even reached yet. It was definitely a mixed emotions moment, somber as I watched this big brute go down and yet feeling extremely blessed as our family will have this amazing bounty of Alaskan grown meat. Our crew worked from 7:45 pm until 2:00am and then the moose was in bags. Up and at 'em the next day and we decided to leave all our gear at our camp site. We transported the meat out and got home at about 9 pm that night.

Here is the big guy, at this point we were like, the work is about to begin. After we got him out and in town we decided to sleep at our respective homes and get up the next day and make a camping trip out of the remainder of time we had allotted for this hunting trip. One of the members of the hunting trip stayed behind in town and this freed up a spot for my little man IM to join our ranks. So the remainder of the pictures are of this camping trip IM was able to participate in.

Me and the boy at our cozy camp site.

Carrying his own weight.

More Alaskan bounty, rainbow trout ala open fire.

Hot dog stick making (side note 1. notice the look of concentration, 2.notice the bucket we found at the camp site, Q: I wonder what kind of animal can make those kind of marks on a 5 gallon bucket? A:brown bear teeth marks)

More Alaskan bounty, Spruce Grouse in a marinade.

We found this skull and bone at the campsite and therefore dubbed it Skull Island.

Sausage and eggs for breakfast anyone?

Going home after an amazing trip.

In amazing weather, mission accomplished.
