It is a beautiful thing.

Well here is a quick update on the kid pics. AK was nowhere to be found but I should be getting some of her soon. Here you go.

EI decided to fall flat on her face at the coffee shop and give herself two black eyes, just like her old dad.

We still think she is beautiful.


IM has been in the Northern Lights swim club, learning to swim, and the pool is the coldest in the city. They heat it on Thursday night after his lessons, so Tuesday it is kinda chilly and by Thursday it is ridiculous. When the heater broke a couple of weeks ago, with no one noticing of course, even some of the kids who compete in races were a little teary eyed from the cold water. Coach has let IM and any other learn to swim student use a wetsuit as they aren't generating enough heat from working out. IM is like me, we wouldn't survive very long in cold water. We ordered three suits online to make sure we got a good fit, EI wanted to try one on before we sent the other two back. Now we solved that problem another one has popped up. IM's poop clock is set for exactly 10 minutes before class is over. I swear the last month and a half he is dropping a deuce at 4:50pm. Good grief kid. I even had him go before the class one time and still it didn't work. Oh the memories this kid is creating.

Moose snacks, Snapshots and One Step Beyond

October, November, December and here is another post. Everything is great up here and we are enjoying a snowy winter. Maybe I'll remember to bring the camera on an outing one of these days. At the rate Muddington News gets posted it would be March before the next post, but we'll try to not let that happen.

This is how big sis plays, AK tells EI and IM to sit and pretend to be in school, please raise your hands if you have any questions.

On her own EI will resort to this type of play, more like her pop every day.

Lazy Saturday morning, waiting for jalepeno cheddar moose sausages and eggs on toast prepared by none other than the pop, making me hungry just thinking about it.

um...well...lets just chalk this one up to the amazing AK and what she'll do whilst reading.

FROZEN TOES AND MORE

My friend and I decided it would be fun to load up a carload of gear and kids and do an overnight. This happened to coincide with the first really cold weekend of the year. But we being the burly Alaskan's the cold was met with a shrug of the shoulders (and a BUNCH of extra blankets). Here is the story of a wild weekend of frozen toes and much much more.

The crew. I was pushing the stroller loaded with sleeping gear and other necessaries.

We actually had zero idea as to where we were going to camp. No one in our group had been down this trail before. That increased the adventure quotient and we had many stops to see what we could see.

By the look on AK's face one would expect that we had been hiking several hours at this point when in fact it was more like 45 minutes.

Our spot offered us tons of wood for a warm warm fire.

Lots of benches.

And a lovely creek to lull us to sleep at night.

The kids were intent on raising my blood pressure by attempting to knock as much ice into the water as possible. This was done by stomping on the thin ice over about 4" of water, NICE! Dry toes are happy toes everyone off the ice now!

The next morning we went on a hike and met this little guy on the way up to check out some snow we saw from the trail. Cute little porcupine, we named him Sticky.

Our snow pack turned into a snow cave that was in need of some exploring.

It was snowing out so we had a snack with the cover of the snow roof for protection.

Group photo, the snow stopped and we were off onto bigger and better explorations.

AK and CJ Hike

So, AK and I went on a hike a couple weeks ago. More like a month ago now, actually. We climbed Little O'Malley peak, which is the shorter peak on the left behind AK. This picture is about a half a mile into the hike.



The post on the left is where our trail joined the main trail.


AK had to empty her shoe on the bridge.


You can see ice forming on the rocks in the creek.




This is the view from Little O'Malley peak.


The pointy peak in the background, which is the real top of the mountain, is called,guess what, O'Malley Peak.

Yet another view. I promise that AK was not as miserable as she looks in this picture. It was really cold and windy up there, though.
